Northampton has so much potential. It is a massive town with so much history and beauty. There are pockets of "things happening" musically and creatively however it’s NEVER enough. But why?
What is it that makes this town as it is? Is it the people who live here or the people who organise the events?
There was a little music festival event this weekend, music was coming from all parts of the town; well that is what was supposed to happen. However, what I saw was a cold wet day, a marquee, 1 sad little hot dog stand and about ten security staff with no body to keep in line. There was nobody there!
This town needs something, maybe there would be more smiles here. I went for an interview in Northampton before and her said he finds it hard to find staff because most people earn more on the doll here and would rather do that than get out of bed to do a hard 5am shift.
Look at a place like Leamington Spa, it is beautiful. It has amazing buildings and tiny unique shops. What do we have here, Pound Land, Pound Stretcher and The Pound Shop. Maybe thats the problem; too many shops where you can get everything you could ever possibly need for one whole pound.
My Words.

The Summer
I'm a student and I’m sure you all know what that means, long holidays and large(ish) loans. I am on my summer holidays now and am currently working two jobs. Please somebody get the violins out for me. I figured if I sat at home during my summer break (as I’m sure many do) I would eat the entirety of the kitchen cupboard. The pounds would disappear from my purse and go straight on to my waist.
However, both these jobs are NOT what I really want to be doing. I don’t want to serve drunks in the evening and chase children in the day time. It turns out children are a lot like drunk people. They are rude, they fall over, they cant always speak that great and they usually have food on their face. I don’t know about anyone else but when I've had a few I miss my mouth while trying to force a £10 pizza down my throat, I tend to enter the taxi with cheese on my forehead.
I wonder how many people actually like their job?
My boyfriend has an interview today at nationwide. He asked me what he should say if they ask what motivates him. I said the obvious "Helping people" but really its the money. Money is the motivation and Cash is King. I'm sure he would rather not sit on a phone all day answering peoples questions about nationwide and trying to help strangers find their lost credit cards but its the pennies that role in with each sale.
The Summer is among us and I'm ready to work and earn. I am proving all those people who say students are lazy wrong.
